Vitamin C deficiency decreases your ability to fight infections, but does supplementation enhance it? A meta-analysis showed that extra vitamin C doesn’t prevent you from getting sick, though it can slightly shorten your cold’s duration. Experts considered it not clinically relevant to take a daily supplement. Zinc is essential for immune function. Zinc deficiency is common in developing countries, but in the US it is quite rare. Some foods like oysters contain well above the upper limit, however, there have never been reported cases of zinc poisoning from foods, but it can occur from dietary supplements. Overdosing can lead to suppressing the immune system. There is a good chance you’re already getting enough zinc in your diet without relying on a supplement. Elderberry is popular as a remedy for colds and flus. Studies have shown that it can reduce the severity and duration of colds but doesn’t reduce the chance of getting a cold. Beta glucan and Larch Tree arabinogalactan are types of prebiotic fibers because they nourish beneficial microbes in your microbiome. Eating fibers like beta-glucan and arabinogalactan from whole foods is considered safe. Instead of eating one or two types of isolated fibers, eat a diversity of fiber through whole food. PROTECT was released during a global pandemic. This “immunity blend” includes several buzzwords that people may relate to coronavirus. Could Brady be the next GOOP? The semi pseudosciency wellness advice and the timing of this product should make you question the integrity of it.
